waiting for the Koel

I have not yet heard it in my parts yet, inner Sydney.  I am also looking for this topic for last year, but can't seem to find it.

I have not heard it yet in my part of Brisbane either. I have seen and heard the Channel-Billed Cuckoo though

I've heard it calling last week in my backyard in Hurstville Sydney, but then it disappeared since then, maybe they're nesting and keeping quiet, l don't know.

For Australian birds, natives=life, exotics=death, so do them a favour and go plant some natives and save their lives.

I heard them both for the first time today, so spring is well and truly here.  I had forgotten the sound of those dulcet tones of the Channel-Billed Cuckoo!

There does not seem to be as many as usual, I am not hearing the usual early morning (very early) call, it may still be a bit soon?

WhistlingDuck

Our "local" one has been around for a good three weeks here in Ryde Sydney. I dont know if its the same one each year or not - but he likes the same trees.

Also have had a few fly-bys by 3-4 chanel bill cuckoos - on one occassion being chased off by lorikeets!
