The Birds in Backyards Program is currently running three surveys which require volunteer assistance. Two of the surveys are on aspects of the behaviour of individual bird species: the Common Koel survey and the Superb Fairy-wren survey. The other survey is on 30 species of bird that are sometimes found in towns and cities.

Why have we chosen these species?
These species have been chosen because they represent a range of ecology and behaviours of birds: large and small species, migratory (moving around) and sedentary (staying in one place). They are also relatively distinct species that should not be too hard to identify using the resources we provide.
Birds and plants: another survey
An additional survey on plant-use by birds in gardens is also being run, and the information gathered will be used to update the plant and garden information on this site.
