George, that sounds like terrific news. Did any of their cane toad friends go with them? Can you provide more details?

Perhaps this is what George is talking about. It would be a good thing because indian mynahs have taken over Cairns and FNQ. They are reportedly having good success with traps in Canberra so I hope they can do the same in Cairns, although I am not sure that the good residents of those two cities have the same interests and drive. But its wrong of me to stereotype and I live in hope. The councils should do more than step back and wait for the community to act.

I tend to agree, Night Parrot. Councils are supposed to have expertise & other resources. There's no reason at all why councils & communities can't act in concert with each having a role to play.

For your information I've emailed Warren Entsch, the member for Leichardt, thanking him for his prominent role in reducing Indian Myna numbers in Cairns. I'm hoping he'll take other actions to protect the environment up that way.

George, I hope you're feeling rather better & at least partially back on the ball.
