Birds in Backyards Local Groups are a great way to meet new people, to learn more about your local birdlife and, most importantly, to actually make change on the ground to help birds. Birds in Backyards believes that all of us can change our environment for the better, starting with our immediate surroundings. You can make a difference!

Run by volunteers either as a stand alone group or as a part of an already established community group, Birds in Backyards Local Groups design and run their own urban bird projects but with the constant support of Birds in Backyards. Local Groups will: 

• Encourage others in the area to also become involved and help to expand habitat for birds


• Adapt the program to focus on a specific species or type of habitat


• Create opportunities for like-minded people to work together

We have a Resource Kit available for all our Local Groups and will be creating more resources for these groups to use all the time.
