Birds in Backyards

Birds need habitat. This means food, shelter, water and nesting sites, which are normally provided within the complex structure of their 'natural' environments. But what about environments that are heavily modified by people? How can we provide suitable habitat for birds (and other wildlife) in our own backyards, parks, bush reserves and wider communities? This section looks at what birds need, what we can provide in our own gardens and in our local communities, and how we can work together to plan for bird-friendly spaces that will ultimately benefit all wildlife and ourselves.
