Who's using the data? Magpie survey

The project aims to identify the reason(s) why magpies are able to survive so well in an urban environment. There are relatively few studies that have been conducted on magpies, which gives student Stephanie Yee a good opportunity to uncover more about this well-loved Australian species.

Stephanie is currently studying a degree in Biomedical Engineering and Medical Science - you may be wondering what this has to do with birds! Her project is a part of the Faculty of Science's TSP, or Talented Students Program, which allows high achieving students to pursue research projects of their own that would normally not be available until their honours or PhD year. The projects can be on any topic in the field of science and can take any shape or form. Steph has a passion for urban birds, particularly the magpie.
