Bird of the week: 17th Nov - international birds

Greetings all from the iucn world parks congress! Great photos last week, well done.

This week I thought we could look at birds that are either - found in other countries as well as Australia (though can still be considered a native bird - eg a koel) - you might need to check the distribution of your bird before you post it - or birds that you have photographed internationally and not found in Australia (eg puffin).

As always, wait a turn before posting

This species is unmistakable.

The bird occurs in south-eastern Borneo, the southern PhilippinesSulawesiMoluccasLesser Sunda IslandsNew GuineaNew Britain, and northern and eastern Australia. It isn't the best photograph but an interesting bird.

Bar-tailed Godwit.

Quote, "The Bar-tailed Godwit Limosa lapponica undertakes one of the avian world’s most extraordinary migratory journeys. Recent research reveals that some individuals from the East Asia/Australasia Flyway population made a nonstop flight of over 11,000 km, the longest continuous journey that has ever been recorded for a landbird".

Lots of great photos posted here - love Lathams Snipe, the Cisticola, Bald Eagle and the Bar Tailed Godwit - and all of them.
