Bird of the Week Challenge: 4th January - No birds! (other wildlife)

Happy New Year everybody!

Hope you are all refreshed and relaxed and I am sure many of you are back to work today. I am back officially next Monday but still around here if needed.

I was trying to get my holiday brain to think of a bird challenge for this week and I was struggling - so instead lets open it up to an off topic theme. Instead of photos of birds, lets see photos of any other wildlife EXCEPT birds!

Anyone who has been around a while will know my hobbies are predominately animal rescue, now specialising in snakes, and fishing, so you won't be surprised if I pop in a few photos also containing a human element into this challenge. Most will be critters I have rescued or removed from harmful human involvement. The first a Tasmanian Devil (sarcophillus harrisii) not hurt, but an unwanted guest in a chicken house.

i bet most of you thought it was going to be a snake!

Can they be pets? Other than birds, like dogs?

Wombat removed from a veggie garden, landowner said it had been hit by a car, but nothing found, took 45 minutes to corner and catch. Had a full assessment, and was released nearby.

Thanks Holly, was going to post this one, but technically I is a pet. You may have seen other photos of this snake I rescued a few weeks ago from a lady's back yard. Well my son runs a Facebook called Reptile Awareness Tasmania. He posted photos of this girl, turns out she escaped from an enclosure near where she was caught. A captive bred Tasmanian Tiger snake, (notechus scutatus). She has now been returned to her rightful owner. A lovely girl, pleasant to handle and good looking to boot.

Because it is a male fish or a "Bull" as they are known. The female has a more streamlined head.Stunning fish and it's adrenalin that makes the fish "light up" once they are brought on board they change to a dull grey colour, within a few minutes. Marlin and Sailfish do the same.

Thanks Reflex, a beautiful photo. Anything scaly I just adore, snakes, lizards, and fish.

This is an old phot photo I have dragged up. Snake in the centre is a Lowlands Copperhead (austrelaps superbus) a Tasmanian Tiger (notechus scutatus) has him surrounded!

If the sizes were reversed, it is highly likely the copperhead would have the tiger for dinner!
