Bird of the Week Challenge: 25th July - alphabet birds

Monday again! Whilst there weren't too many entries last week there were some great photographs of birds in the wrong place.

This time I thought we would see how far through the alphabet we can get. The first person posts a bird starting with 'A' (eg Australian Magpie) and then the next person with 'B' etc. You can use their common name or scientific name.

Each person must wait a turn before posting again (so you can't post for bird 'E' and 'F' for example)...

Make sense?

Hi, New member here, attempting to understand how your site works!

Hopefully I have uploaded a Nankeen Kestrel that regularly hunts on my property for your letter N challenge.

Does anyone have a photo of a "Xantus's Hummingbird, Xantus's Murrelet, Xavier's Greenbul or Xinjiang Ground-Jay." Among the approximately 10,000 species of birds around the world, these are the only four with names that begin with "X." https://www.reference.com/pets-animals/bird-names-start-letter-x-ea87859...

Maybe someone could find a bird with X in it, just to keep it going, hopefully Holly won't mind, Morcombe lists 3, Spinifex Pigeon, Manx Shearwater and Spinifexbird.

By scientific name, morcombe lists Terek Sandpiper, Macleay's Honeyeater, and Tawny-breasted Honeyeater for X.

Any north QLDers with the honeyeater pics?

I think we should continue along and then start again with different birds this time. Be good to see how far we can go.

I'll finish off with Z

Zosterops lateralis (Silvereye)
