What Wrens ?

Have seen these wrens in our back yard lately, thought they were Red Backed Fairy Wrens which are here all the time, then I saw the blue face.

The first two appear to be male Superb Fairy-wrens moving to eclipse plumage. The third seems to be a female Superb Fairy-wren although the eye patch seems darker than normal. Where is your backyard, Ross? I ask  because having a location can often help in indentifying a species.

Sorry for leaving location out. We are at Banksia Beach, Bribie Island, Queensland.

I thought they migh be variegated fairy wrens as the blue appears to be all around the eye.

Might have to wait a few months and se what he looks like then, if still around.

By George, I think you're right! That would explain the deep chestnut eye patch on the female. For bird watching, as in real estate, it's location, location, location.

Thanks for the input, I guess I can add that to the sightings in our yard.
