escorted from the park

A pair of birds were escorted from the park in Beenleigh, Qld by a crow this afternoon. I took these two photos from about 500 metres away, so they are not too clear. Any idea as to what they are?

Thanks.

Some raptor ... what comes to mind is brown goshawks,

Thanks again, WD. You do get around these forums! The birds seemed to be about the same size as the crow that was chasing them.

The head posture/shape in the first photo does not look to me like a raptor. I would suggest Koel or Pheasant Coucal, although I haven't seen the latter.

Hi HB,

Thanks for the suggestion -- you mean something like this (taken in Feb of this year about a kilometre from the spot).

kind regards,

Yep, I would agree HB - pheasant coucal most likely, as Koels don't normally arrive back until mid-late September.
