Local Birding Pics

So last weekend there was a Facebook group heading to Mungarra Reserve at Petrie for a little birding. While there was not a lot of variety, there was certainly quality. Here are a few of my shots from the day. That Great Crested Gebe was simply not shy at all. He had a bad eye as you can see but it didn't stop him fishing. Also a treat for the Day were some quite obliging Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos. The Channel Billed Cuckoos were everywhere but the were always at the top of the tree or deep in the tree. Hope you enjoy

Beautiful Dev, love the Grebe and the Channel-billed Cuckoo, and you have caught both male and female Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo, highlighting the male's pink eyering.

Thanks Dale. Yes, I did purposely put both of them in. The Crows were not happy about them being around but they held their own against them

It was. Sadly I found out that a few days after I took these photos, it was found dead in the lake. Not sure if it was because of it's bad eye or not. Seemed to be fishing ok when we were observing it. I felt sick in the stomache when I found out

Sad about the Grebe but what a wonderful day to see all of these. The Channel-billed Cuckoo is a cracker.
