Latest stats, as at 4/1/2021. Also - I have uploaded to a Google sheet, I think everyone should be able to access this?

Thanks for making the changes as it helps for tallies ... my apologies Karen but Blue Bonnet is in twice (once as Bluebonnet). Thanks for the latest stats, very impressed with your skills and our tallies are terrific.

That last minute run by Alex was very impressive but Dev saw some fantastic birds and deserves a win. Everyone made a special effort (especially the statistician) and you all deserve a pat on the back so I'm sending a virtual one. This year will be interesting.

Oh thank you Sue, I only just added the new Bluebonnet today, I wasn't consistent. I will fix. Should it be Blue Bonnet or Bluebonnet?

Blue Bonnet, I believe.

WLAB3 has it as Bluebonnet. Ebird (just to be different) calls it Greater Bluebonnet lol. Let's stick with WLAB & Bluebonnet.

Just as an aside, I see they call out 4 subspecies as well (Yellow-vented, Red-vented, Naretha and Pallid) I think I need a new field guide, my 2000 edition is feeling more than a little dated.

And I agree, Dev has had a cracking year, not just a lot of really cool birds (and 54 that none of the rest of us have seen!) but also some lovely photographs as well, so great quality as well as quantity. Enjoyable as well as inspirational - great work Dev!

Yes, agree ... told you my mind was elsewhere, Alex. WLAB is the one we decided upon so Bluebonnet it is. Makes life easier if we just check that one.

I had only quickly checked Monkhurst et al,  Aus Bird Guide which was different. Very confusing with all these variations around especially EBird and the apps!

I'll update this for 2020.

I've created a new input sheet for 2021, and I've included the WLAB list so it will provide drop down selection and highlight if anything entered is not in the list.

I'm happy to maintain this again for stats purposes. But if people want to edit their own lists, I can give edit access based on email addresses. The other option is to give everyone access to edit (that means anyone who has the link). I don't mind either way, happy to go with the consensus.

Here's the final stats for 2020. Again let me know if I've missed something or anything is doubled up, but hopefully it is all final and correct.

Congrats to Dev on a great win :-)

Good enough for me :-)

Dev, outstanding total, and even more, amazing number of unique birds - it has been such a pleasure seeing all of these new birds, and reading your comments about them. Your photography has also been a bit of an inspiration to me - always trying to get a good shot (but not shy to post an EBC if you need to - very much in the spirit of the game :-) Well done, its been great trying to chase you over the year as well - I'll try again this year :-) Looking forward to seeing your photos again this year!

Karen, thanks so much for your work on the stats - it has been super useful, as well as enjoyable to see the totals develop, what birds are common and unique etc - I really appreciate it.

Unless there are some new updates coming in - congrats Dev!

I will pull together a prize pack of goodies for you.

No problem. I have refined my process for this year so there will be much less effort needed.

Wonderful effort from you, Karen and much appreciated. The drop down list sounds wonderful and I am super impressed with your skills!
I'm happy to update my list directly if that helps but I think google sheets require a computer not an IPad so difficult if travelling. As long as numbers are manageable it should be OK but if the number of players increases, it might be a strain for you. I'll send you my email address in a private message.

Great effort from everyone and I have enjoyed all the posts and stories, thank you.

Ok thanks Sue. I have also found a simpler way to update, I just copy and paste the factsheet list at the bottom of each post. The Leaderboard tally will automatically exclude if it is a duplicate for that person, and flag for me if it doesn't match the WLAB list, so it's not a big effort on my part. I'm happy to keep updating, but I will share the list with you to edit anyway.

Just be aware that the factsheets are not 100% - many species dont have them at all .

Yep as long as people mention that then I can check WLAB for any that are missing. Like Tom did with one recently.

Thanks heaps guys, like you I thoroughly enjoyed it! I like that it's competitive but in a friendly way. Really look forward to seeing all the different birds this year. Again I cannot thank you enough Karen for doing up the stats! Happy birding for 2021!

I've been watching this with interest. 251 is a good result especially this year.

Good to hear from you, Reflex. Join the fun as Dale suggested or just watch us do our best. Some wonderful birds seen last year!
