Hi,
I'm stumped trying to identify this bird. Only appears at dawn and dusk perched high in the gum canopy. Several around as they call to one another.
It never gets close enough to really get a good look but it appears mainly dark with a longish tail. Similar size to a Magpie.
Here is the call it makes https://www.dropbox.com/s/w9fgrv5xnmii88p/birdcall%20bayside.m4a?dl=0
I'd say that's a Pied Currawong, cassowary.
I agree with Woko. It's a Pied Currawong
Thank you so much. I can now enjoy the birdsong and name the culprit :-)
