I had a beautiful surprise visitor today - 2 rainbow lorikeets brought a newly-fledged baby into our backyard - in winter! I think it only left the nest today because it could barely hop from one branch to another. It cried constantly like a rusty gate. It insisted on cuddling up to one parent all the time. The other parent was in the feeder. It has a yellow breast with orange midline and a short swallow-like tail. The beak is already red, so it must change colour quite early.
Love is in the air - yesterday 2 galahs were one the rosella box with leaves in their beaks and today the rosellas were on the rosella box.

Baby rainbow lorikeet
Hi birdgirl
How cute even his wing feathers haven't fully grown yet
Lucky you - great photos. I have never seen the underwing of these parrots close-up before. Gorgeous.
Great shots Birdgirl. We have plenty of RLs around here but no fledgelings at this time of year. Well done
Ray
