Noosa walking with Heva

Here are a few shots I managed to get while hev and I were out walking. Didn't see anything too unusual but i am thinking that the honeyeaters may have been two different sililar ones, the yellow spotted and the Lewins. Oh, and of course the brown was in there as well.

I'm thinking maybe a young golden whistler female for this one.
and maybe a juv shrike thrush for this one?

Lewins

Brown Honey eater
and I was thinking for the above that this might be the yellow spotted HE

I have seen this before, the brush turkey sunning itself.
and we saw this fine fellow, but Hev may have got a closer shot than this.

It will be interesting to compare our shots with the two different lenses. (photography skills aside)

Cheers

Great photos Birdie, but aren't 3 and 5 both Lewins Honey Eaters? Ray

Yes you're absolutely right Ray. Don't know why I thought that....must have just got carried away with my field guide, but forgot to look at locations!! :)

Nice photos, looks like a nice place for birds. I'd agree with the juvenile thrush. Love the photos of your brush turkey, at fiirst I didn't know what I was looking at!

Hi Trev , Amateur and Ray ..... thank goodness there are a few regulars still around. I have to say ....where the hell is everyone?
I have never seen the forum this quiet. Even Heva hasn't made it back here yet.
I went walking yesterday and saw some great shots but of course didn't have a camera, but it was all the usual culprits on my walking circuit. ( you know, cat birds and more catbirds, pale headed rosies etc... :) !)

With regard to the bush turkey , yes my first instinct was to rush up and see if it was OK, but I remembered the last time up at Maleny that one was just sunbathing quite happily.

Lol, are you sure your python didn't eat Heva before she left? Ahh yes, your usual culprits of beautiful, beautiful and more beautiful birds. Wish I had a line up like that at my local walking circuit.

I'M BACK!!!!!!!! Had a great trip to Noosa, Fraser Island, back to Vic and up to Bright with my sister over from the UK. Thanks Birdie for showing me your birding spots, had a great walk with you and nice to put a face to the name now!
ok here goes for my collection from Noosa.
Lewins HE
rainbow lorikeet
variegated fairy wren (non breeding?) male figbird blue faced honeyeater
butcherbird
and had to put this one in....outside our room at the backpackers in Noosa! he was VERY big!

Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best

Ha ha Hev... welcome back. Just love the python, it's just like the one we had but maybe a bit bigger I think.
Fancy you seeing those wrens the next day ... you can pick your days but you just can't pick your birds can you when you go birdwatching.

Nice to catch up with you too. My daughter had a nice dig at me the next week when I took her to a cyber safety seminar and they said "never meet up with anyone from the net"
:'D

yeah waaaaaay bigger...we were careful to keep our doors and windows firmly shut after you told me they were 'only dangerous if they wrap around your throat in the night'..... great sleep we had that night...35 degrees and no air con and both of us scared to open the windows lol.
as for the stranger danger.... I met my partner on the net so... yes you can't be too careful!!

By the way, I think the 2nd shot of your HE is the brown HE not the Lewins. We saw them in different locations . Check your time on your pics and see, and notice the patch on the face is not there?

PS where the hell are all the know-alls on this forum? (no offence meant!) I'd hate to put anyone wrong with my IDs :)

ah yes a brown honeyeater. I tried to look up the date on the photo info. but find once I convert from RAW to Jpeg that info disappears....hmmm will have to start putting info with the photo....or perhaps I'm just looking in the wrong place. No, the stranger danger theory I'm agreeing with...partner is very strange haha!

BTW I thought you said the brush turkeys were getting rid of parasites by lying in the hot sun looking dead! or were you spinning me a yarn? and I fell hook line and sinker duh!!

No someone on here did say that that was one of the reasons they "sun themselves" like that. Wish it would work for the cat!! Save on vet bills :)

Hi, just adding some shots of blue-faced honey-eaters that I retrieved from the delete bin... they had a 'mist' on them (I think from going air-con cafe to humid outdoors...not really sure)but anyway the elements programme (thanks to windhovers suggestion)did the trick and I'm glad I hadn't emptied my recycle!
