Lovely Lorikeets in hollow

I know I have shot this pair before..or at least I am assuming it is the same pair in the same hollow but they were so cute as I was busy stickybeaking at them... I ended up leaning against the tree trunk to steady my ever shaking hands and he was so curious he turned upside down to keep his eye on me

Hope they appeal to you as much as they did to me .... such beauty :')

They ARE cute!!! Down at my local shops there are some, but so high up the trees, that I can't see them that well. I have a question about the colours, are they always in the same order? One seens to have more green on the wing? The colours on the head all look the same !?
Great photos, as always!

Your lovely shots show the value of leaving old trees with hollows rather than "tidying" them up. Great habitat shots, birdie.

Such amazing colours especially the first shot and I love the way he is upside down. So typical cheeky Lorikeet!

Cheers, Owen.

Sorry everyone!!! I think bidrie is pulling your legs!!!The upside down shot "IS A JOKE" ! If you have a close look at the wood and the hole, you will notice, she just turned it on the side!! LMAO !!! Hasn't anyone else spotted this?? M-L

NO Araminta ....I don't think so!!!! Can you see his foot??? well his head is upside down compared to his foot ...n'est-ce pas???
I was leaning on the tree trunk directly below the hollow and I may have tilted the angle a bit as I was stabilising the lens on the tree, but believe me , this chap was upside down and keeping his beady little eye on me.
The previous photo was taken from the other side of the hollow.....now this may really stretch you as you are a woman and we are not supposed to be able to read maps etc LOL
But the artist in you should be able to determine the state of play here LOL

Now to the rest of my post which just timed out on me while I was trying to do it grrrr

OK ....here are a few to prove how it was done....
Going upside down...
just before number one wife disappeared back into the hollow!
then....what is she up to down there with that dog???

I think I get a better view this way .....

Hope this puts it into context a bit .... now here is an extra bit of info..this Noisy Miner and his mates were going off because me and the dog were obviously getting too close and disturbing the Nesting Pair of RLs. Talk about the local Militia LOL
