I was in my backyard and this bird flew over head with a fairly rapid bent back wing posture and settled in trees along way off please forgive poor images as they were taken with a 50-500 with 2X converter

Yes Nick, you are spot on, it's an old adult Peregrine Falcon.
The older they are, the lighter their chest & belly.

Thanks for the info Al first time I've seen one of the birds in 5 year of living in Oz and it flew right over the top of my back yard I shell keep the camera handy in case it frequents the area which BTW is Erina Central Coast NSW
