Little Friarbird ?

Today I had a new visitor into the garden outside my office. From the appearance it seems to be a little friarbird. It was at ground level and flapping around in the plants. When I approached it seemed curious and came towards me a bit. It didn't seem to be able to fly very well but hopped from plant to plant. I got really close (within a meter) and ...Yes ...you guessed it... I didn't have a camera. When two other people approached it flew a short distance and then recovered and flew off towards the trees. Would they normally come in close like that or maybe it had stunned itself on a window or something? I have never seen one before but it was very distinctive on it's bill .

Always exciting to see a "first"

Cheers

I saw some of these birds a while back, they have a very distinct sound so are hard to confuse with other birds :)

here are my really bad quality pics that I managed to take today . As usual I panicked and didn't do a very good job. Picked up the camera with only a short lens on and didn't take my glasses off 9 I have a dioptric adjustment in camera) so I didn't even notice that one of the birds was a noisy miner! The friarbird was after some grevilleas and they were chasing it away. One day soon I'll get a good shot!! :(

Unusual perch to land on..

Taking flight...

It didn't make any noise at all though. I am sure it was a friarbird but can't decide which type.

Hi Birdie
.
The image of the one on the bike shows it is a Little Friarbird. By increasing the size and adjusting the brightness, one can just make out its head features.
It is NOT a Noisy Friarbird.

Thanks Denis
It's a strange thing though , when I first saw him I could have sworn that there was a big bump on the top of the bill. That is where the confusion came. then when I came back with the camera it looked different. By then it had flown a few times and I thought maybe there were two of them. I had the wrong lens on the camera and the card was in my bag where I had just been to the photo shop. NEXT TIME I WILL BE BETTER ORGANISED!!!! ( I hope :) )
Cheers
