Stunning colours.... but what is it?

This bird was eating the grass seeds at our house in the Redland shire, Brisbane.

Gidday Shelly, I checked out your bird and could not believe you took that in Brisbane.
It is most certainly an aviary escapee as your bird is a Scarlet chested parrot.
They are very closely related to the Turquosine parrot.
The Scarlet ranges from Sth western QLD across to the fringes of WA.
Save that pic as I the chances of seeing one in your yard again are not likely.

Absolutely stunning bird there Irish, very pretty, agree with Tassie on that one, definitely aviary escapee. Verylcuky to see one, some nice pics.

Wow. Its a long way from home then. It knew how to feed on the grass seeds so I guess if will be OK (if its cage escapee)!
Thanks for your help.
