Sorry, I don't know how to resize it but I saved the photos and have no clue what it is, definitely not an Australian Bird, I imagine it's some imported possibly hybrid bird from overseas.

Hi Earl
It would appear to be a domestic dove of some sort.

IS it a juvenile? That beak looks overly long for it's body.

Yes amateur, I believe it is a fledgling. After speaking to someone from a bird society I believe it to be a white ringnecked pigeon/dove, on further investigation I found that if these birds are released at weddings or funerals etc instead of white homing pigeons, they have no homing abilities and, unable to fend for themselves in he wild they often die. So it looks like I have a mate, now if only I could get it to eat pigeon, parrot or wild bird seed instead of Helgas mixed grain bread!

Thankyou for your help :)

So how did he get there? Because they wouldn't release a fledgling, so does that mean a) one escaped somehow, or b)some survived long enough to breed? Soudns rather cruel to me to release a bird so they can fly and awe an audience for a second or two and then are totally forgotten about and left to die. I guess thats the way things work unfortunately.
