Bird Chirping Late At Night - Melbourne

Hello,

For the last week or so I've been hearing this bird chirping from roughly after 10pm until about 4am.

I'm not 100% sure where it is so I haven't seen it, however, I did get some audio.

I uploaded it at http://www.zshare.net/download/93462009b6d6fcf0/

It's the same call, over and over, every few seconds.

Does anyone have any idea what sort of bird this is and if it's common around this area (I'm in Hawthorn)?

It's keeping me awake at night!

From what I can hear that is a magpie warbling

BTW that was not the most user friendly site to download from - seemed to take forever.

There is an interesting discussion on this forum

I would say it's a magpie also. They are singing here at night too.

Hi everyone, seeing you all recognised the Magpie call, and it is so common everywhere ,I won't download any of this website. (Just one look at it got my alarmbells ringing, all advertising. Don't need more junk mail!)

Agreed. I followed the link but didn't bother going any further once I saw the site it took me to.

Since halfpoint hasn't shown up again can we assume it is a spammer?

Thanks..

I followed that link and found another link that said it's Magpie mating season from Aug-Dec which would explain it.

There was no option to upload a file here so I had to upload it somewhere. All free upload sites are riddled with ads.

Hi halfpoint,I like your foil hat, is that protecting you from an Alien attack from outer space??? The "Hawthorn" you live in, is that on this planet? How come you haven't heard a "Magpie"? I can hear one right now!! LOL

No soakes, but I can tell you a true story. Way back in the 60ties, when my husband did his service in the Army, every soldier was given a large sheet of "tin foil". They were told to cover themselves with the foil, in case there was a "nuclear attack". It would protect them from radiation.Back then, they believed that! LMAO ! (well, I don't know about the radiation level in......?) Stop it, M-L, or you get into trouble!!!
