Hey from West Australia!

Hi there. I'm and eleven year-old girl and I love birds. We have nine birds at our house, six are tame/handreared. Today I have recently gone birdwatching for the first time, and I've identified in my area:
Laughing Turtle-Dove
Magpie-Lark/Mudlark/Peewee
Willie Wagtail
Dusky Woodswallow
White-Cheeked Honeyeater

Hope to her some replies ^^

Hi Kiah:

I started watching birds when I was real young too so now you are on a great journey that will last your whole lifetime.

What type of birds do you have at home? I am Canadian and visited your country last year for six months and loved it!

My favorite aussie bird is the Princess Parrot.

Cheers and warm wishes from accross the oceans!

Hey Tass & Wompoo, thanks for responding ^^ and Wompoo, our bird pets are four lovebirds, two dutch blue pied peachface [tamed] and two cobalt masked [not tamed], a tamed sun conure, a tamed lutino budgerigar, non-tamed yellow and green budgerigar, a pure white budgerigar (our blue and white budgie flew away some time ago :[), and two semi-tame crimson wings who inhabit our massive avary.
My favourite aussie bird, and overall bird, would probably have to be the Osprey...which I am named after ^^

To Wompoo:
Aw, the poor things. Do you live where bald eagles live? That's pretty cool. I've always wanted to see how big one is. Today I found some 'Twenty-eights' (also known as Australian Ring necks, subspecies B) lurking around the park across my house. They're beautiful :)

Wow Wompoo. I just checked your blog-- it's AMAZING!! DO you really have a video and/or picture for each species in Australia?

HI Kiah

I love birds too. I live in Queensland but lived for a long time in Roleystone in Perth. My favourite bird there was the red tailed black cockatoo. We had heaps of them and they would tear out Jarrah trees to shreds - naughty birds but beautiful.

I have a daughter who is 11 too. She is starting to love and identify birds almost as well as I can.We rescued this baby bird from cats the other day and she took care of it

It flew off to live another day which was really good.

Happy birding

Hi Kiah:

Glad you enjoyed my blog. Yes I was fortunate to obtain some sort of footage of every parrot species in Australia except for Night Parrot. Night Parrot has only been seen a couple of times over the past 75 years or so.

In a few months I should have the film ready and am looking forward to offering it to others to enjoy.

Cheers!

To birdie: Wow your daughter must be fortunate. Just this morning a little, ADORABLE white-cheeked honeyeater got caught in our shed where all the birds are kept. I tried to catch it in vain for about five minutes, then finally got it. Thankfully it didn't bit me, but it looked petrified. I walked to the door and opened my hands and it flew away never to be seen again :)
To Wompoo: Wow, I might just search up this night parrot... isn't it the little one that sorta looks like a quail, and it's green?
