Just wanted to say hello to you all, although I'm new to this Country, I'm not new to Bird watching although I'm having to learn about a whole new bunch of birds, I'm originally from England, my husband is a native though.

I've been living in Mackay, Queensland now for just a little over and year and my husband and I are making a new home and a bird friendly garden.
We only have a one and a half acre block but all our weekends are spent in the garden planting and building, looking after our chickens, ducks and two Great Danes and I think its just amazing. :')

Welcome to Birds in Backyards, hope to hear from you in the future. Mackay is a pretty nice place for birds and don't they have Mackay Botanic Gardens? They'd be handy to visit for some nice birds, I'm pretty sure Tassie or some other regular has mentioned them. Good luck with your bird friendly garden

In fact, you might wanna post something on the "Bird Friendly Gardening Section" and see if you can get any tips on plating for particular birds etc.

Thanks for the welcome, Mackay is a very nice place for birds your right. Been to the Botanic Gardens a few times really wonderful gardens and lots of lovely birds.
We're just planting lots of natives and anything bird attracting. we're just very happy to have a very natural spot. Maybe as I get more settled and get to know more about the birds in this country I'll then start to be a bit more choosy.
I really like all kinds of birds and feel very blessed that I get to watch/listen to them all the day.
Since I'm a newby at this I like to read what other people are seeing in different parts of the country, I haven't been able to photo many of the birds apart from the parrots I'm usually working in the garden. Thank you again for the welcome.
