I wish I'd found this sooner!

Hey all, I recently got sick of my friends not being able to relate to my bird-related elations, and started googling for birding clubs or similar in Tassie. Glad I found this place! I need somewhere to vent my enthusiasms when something exciting happens!
Have bought a house in Hobart a few months back, so did my first 20-minute bird survey this morning... Not very exciting, and 4/7 species seen were introduced birds, but hopefully all the natives I'm planting will improve that with time! So far my joys in my new backyard have come from a flock of 15 Swift Parrots rocketing overhead last week (the first time I'd seen them) as well as repeated sightings over the past few months of a 'White' Goshawk. I'm desperately trying to find some feeding swift parrots to get a longer look and photograph them, but it's proving very difficult!! I'm becoming obsessed with them!
Anyways, hello and thanks for being part of my therapy ;)
Scott.

Welcome Scott,I think, we all feel a bit obsessed about birds! If I have to stay inside, or it rains, I get itchy fingers, because I haven't taken a photo or seen a bird.I'm glad to be part of your therapy. M-L

Yo, Scott. I can relate to the therapy comment. I had a job which made bird watching mandatory for survival.

Scott I had a look at your setting there and I would say that your privacy settings will prevent that Facebook post from showing up maybe?

I don't consider myself an addict of bird-watching, but my friends just don't get it when I get excited about all the different bird-calls I hear sitting on my back deck overlooking the garden. It's just magic to me. I often shout to my husband, come and hear this bird, its so unusual!

Well malakarim, you have come to the right place, I can understand you, I love the "magic of nature", and everything that belongs to it, big and small.I often ask my husband, did you hear that? But his hearing isn't what it used to be anymore, old age? LOL. As with everything in life, enjoy it NOW, it might not be there tomorrow! M-L
