Note specifically for Berldo (but all welcome!)

Hi all,

This is "sort-of" a reply to something I saw in one of Berldo's posts, but it's about a non-birdy thing so I'm putting it here. I hope that's ok. I didn't want to annoy anyone with too many a non-birdy post in the photos forum.

Berldo... I've noticed in your posts a few references to my other obsession, so I'm very, very excited. I'll leave it at that because I must go now and tend to my dog, Deanna, but I just wanted to say it's nice to see that there are birdy people into that sort of stuff too.

Bye,
Andrea.

If you go outside with Deanna Andy, watch the trees bend down their branches, and touch you with their fingertips. Remember-Let Love In!

Yes I will go outside, because it's a lovely day, in fact it's a good good day today; and I'll listen to the butcherbird making his noise, asking me to agree with his brutal nesting habits.

I just want to say Andy...... have I missed something ?
:)

You have me totally intrigued !!

Ah.... I got it now .... Bushbirdnerd you are very quick to pick up on subtleties. Andy the social column is for anything you want to say :)

Cheers

Birdie, I'm thinking that, to Bushbirdnerd, there was nothing subtle in my post :-)

Bushbirdnerd, I was going to include your name in the thread title (ie "A note specifically for Berldo and Bushbirdnerd") because I saw a particularly delightful reference in one of your posts too, but I was so excited when I was typing the message and there were simply too many letters in your name.

If you don't mind me interupting here, what are you talking about, music?

Andy

Hi Amatuer, yes, music.

Berldo.... waiting for a response... :-)

Nic Cave to be precise?
I remember Berldo explaining to me about the reference to their habits. He has some very interesting lyrics. And yes, there are probably a few people on here with interests that none of us would guess! Birding is somehow relegated to the nerd family isn't it? No pun intended BBN. :)

Lol, I was watching a show on the Twitchathon this year (I think), and one group they were following had got to be the biggest group of bogans going round, shows it's for all kinds of people :)

Ah.... Saint nick. Well picked up on my (and bush bird nerds) subtle usage of Nick cave lyrics in our posts. What a co-incidence that your dog is named Deanna... I just got tender prey the other day :)

Oh... and in case you are interested I am tall and I am thin, of an enviable height... and I've been known to look quite handsome in a certain angle and a certain light. (much like my avatar pic)

May I ask what the give away lyric was? Possibly the Red right hand i recieved from the stinging nettles :)

Keep them coming I say :) maybe we can start adding grinderman as well.

Lol, I'm just waiting for everyone to start slipping in lyrics in their posts now :)

Welcome Berldo, this post has been yearning for your presence. Is Nellie Brown brown still working real estate in Gisborne? Heard she is doing quite well selling her wears.

Nellie brown is in town bushbirdnerd and she takes some great photographs. (rumoured that she makes a lot of money from them) Same can't be said of her friend Mary Bellows, prefers to take her photos by the coast.... that can be very dangerous.

Surprised you didn't use any Nick cave references bbnerd, maybe next time.

bushbirdnerd

Why is it dangerous Berldo? Does Mary take underwater shots too (sharks)? You never know, she may not have much experience down the coast, it does get cold, wet and windy (disorientating). Also, last time I was down the coast I met a bloke called Richard Sleigh, or something like that- he reminded me of a serial killer. Spooky, he had hair slicked back like a raven's wing.

Berldo and BBN,

I nearly fell off my chair at work when I saw your posts about the lyrebird walk - one of you asked the other if he was tall and thin, of an enviable hight.

Yes, poor, poor Mary Bellows. But it's glad to hear that Nellie Brown's business is still thriving. Fascinating character. In fact, I would say she's a little mystery, every time she comes around. Pity about Billy Dilly, though.

I don't suppose you two are up for an email chat?

Andy.

There are a few Nick Caves around I'm sure Perthwings, and be sure to explore them. I think it's an old term descriptor from Victoria. I've first heard of them in Warracknabeal, then Wangaratta, and then a little later, funnily enough, in Caulfield which is in Melbourne (all in Vic). Keep exploring Perthwings, I'm sure you'll find some good caves soon.

I think there's even going to be a statue in Warracknabeal.

So, BBN, that's a no? No email talkies?

aberliavaz@yahoo.com.au for all things Nick cave and even some pixies if you are lucky :)

Wow Perthwings, I think you've set the record for the most lame Nick Cave jokes :)

Aaahh ..... doesn't happen very often.... but I have to agree totally with Perthwings on that one :')

John Cale's "Hallelujah" (from "Fragments of a Rainy Season") aint too bad either!

Amateur

Sorry, but I haven't heard either version. For me it's some good 80's and 90's rock :)

birdie
birdie's picture

I have to admit that the first time I watched Cohen do it , I got shivers down my spine. 80's 90's rock is good too Amateur.... and 70's for those of us that can still remember the words of every song that was sung back then! I can guarantee they won't be remembering anything that Justin Beaver sings in another 25 years!!! LOL

Both great artists. Did you also know that Nick Cave does a version of 'Hallelujah', but it's pretty hard to find- try youtube. Not better than Leonard's version though. Like your 'nicking' into to the cave gag Perthwings.

For all you leonard cohen fans.... he is playing at hanging rock in november. Hope he doesn't disturb the powerful owl that is nesting there.

"Yes I know Berldo, with another favourite of mine, Paul Kelly and Claire Bowditch and someone else. I got Heva1 to check out the price for me and we decided that at $200- $290 a pop e would stick with CD's. it would be a great concert though :) Have seen Paul Kelly a couple of times at some nice venues.

I am just got Paul Kelly's autobiography " How to make Gravy" for my birthday. Have only flicked through it so far as I am still on The Big Twitch ( which I am identifying with far too much to be healthy LOL) but it should be an interesting read.
