I wonder if anyone can tell me about the nesting habits of grey crowned babblers. Do they nest as family units?
We stopped on our way home for a change of driver and ended up watching at least 6 birds all working on the same nest. Watched them for ages before I remembered that I had my camera. The light wasn't the best as it was a bit late in the day, but I got a couple of shots of them collecting their materials. Would the one on the tree trunk have been collecting sap to hold the nest together?
We got home about half an hour later than planned, but it was worth it.

My book says they build "domed stick nests and erect similar constructions for communal roosting".
Not much to go on, is it?

Thanks booshkie. I've googled a bit since my post and it seems that they do build nests as a communal effort. Sociable little things, aren't they, and always chattering so happily whenever I see them, which isn't as often as I'd like.
