Bird of the Week: 28th January - Aussie Icons

Hope all our Qld and Northern NSW members are safe and dry after all the terrible flooding this weekend. To celebrate Australia Day lets share photos of those birds that you think are iconically Australia - and lets make it tough, only one photo per member. So your Aussiest of Aussie birds!

Hi everyone, Happy New Year!  I've been away on holiday and then had to get back to work only a few days after getting home so haven't had a chance to catch up with everyone yet.

Definitely the kookaburra for me and I have so many great photos but since it's only one, thought it had to be this one.

For me it has to be the Wedged Tailed Eagle, i just love those big Raptors.

I don't have any great photos of one yet but i did get this shot on the weekend of two of them having a mid air fight.

I was in a small tinny with the waves rocking the boat and only my 200mm lens with me so this is a large crop from a tricky situation.

Posting just one photo per member seams to stop us from posting. All my life I have never done as I was told wink, so I will post one more , the Magpie Lark.

Nice one, Kathiemt.

The lorikeets were taken in Adelaide botanic gardens this spring. It was quite a hot day so the birds were enjoing water in the fountain.
