If it is a Whistler (female) I'd say Rufous, the streaking is on throat and breast.

(sorry, I haven't got any new programwink)

M-L

yes the streaking does give it away . I am forunate to have a few of these across the road from where i live, unfortunatley i have to go down south to see the Golden Whistler or hunt hard for it in the local bush.

Kerry - Perth, Western Australia.

The first two were with my old camera Canon SX10 IS powershot . The third picture is better as it is taken with my Canon 60D last month, in my backyard in the Almond Tree. This photo here is with my old camera but it is the male , also in my backyard just in a different tree.

Kerry - Perth, Western Australia.

Very nice, bird No2 would have to be a juvenile? It doesn't have a dark beak yet?

(but sorry, we are getting off the "grey track"wink we'll have to stop)

For those who don't have a field guide or see Egrets in the flesh, they can have either *dark* grey or black legs.  The ones I see myself have black legs.  Soooo, I'm seeing Woko's pic as an all white bird with its legs obscured entitled GREYT Egret which, by the way, I thought was very clever.

Wow, 86 posts so far. Holly has to think of a more challenging topic now? Something like:  blue eyes, or red feet, or long necks, or long beaks......?

Just at the beach and yes .... Why do some seagulls have dark legs and feet where some have bright to fading orange shades.

Kerry - Perth, Western Australia.

Now this little fellow has to qualify - definitely shades of grey on this juvenile magpie!

You will have to tell me exactly what kind you are talking about. There is no "Sea Gull" , there are quite a few different kind of "Gulls", so you will have to let me know which one you are talking about? If you are talking about the Silver Gull, the immature has darker legs than the mature one. But please tell me which one you want to know about.

M-L

shoop

Yes  M-L the common ''sea gull''  the SILVER GULL  like this one  then you have ones like this little guy with really orange legs and feet and then others with not so orange legs and feet.

Kerry - Perth, Western Australia.

Araminta
Araminta's picture

The ones with the dark legs and dark beaks are immature Silver Gulls. (if I can find a photo of a juvenile, I will post one)
