......this day is not going well, 40*+, staying inside most of the time, something I'm not good at, I heard some birds screaming in fear. Then I saw him, the first Goanna in a long time.Hadn't seen one since the Black Saturday fires. On top of that he was attacked by an angry Azur Kingfisher. How my day changed in a few seconds Can't tell you how good this is
He was at least 2m from head to tail. Have seen bigger ones, but I'm not complaining, just so happy.
Have to share some photos with you.
Great shots so close & sharp. While I love all the images #4 is my favourite, it's just the big claw leaving the viewer thinking about what the hells that attached to? (thats if they hadnt seen the other shots) love it!
Cheers.
Beautiful M-L, thanks so much for sharing.
I saw my local blue-tongue lizard again the other day after quite a while - not quite a goanna, but I know the feeling.
Cheers

Hi Araminta, just wondering ho close you were able to get Goanna?
Hi Dennis, not more than 2m. I know they look scary, but when they sit on a tree , I don't think they will jump on top of you to bite you.
In general they run up a tree to get away from you and will only come down when they think you've gone away.
Similar to the snakes at my place, they don't wait for me behind a tree to jump out and bite me, they'd rather get away from me and not get stood on.
