G'Day!

Hello smiley

Just going to introduce my self laugh

My favourite bird is the Magpie (I have tamed a whole family and can hand feed them!) I have a large gum tree that is home to various birds, sometimes I get wedge tailed eagles! And sometimes if I am lucky the Peregrine Falcon! My least favorite animal is the cat...they got one of my tamed magpies angry I LOVE aviation and everything about it!

And thats me in a few sentences smiley

Thanks

Silver Magpie

Hi Silver Magpie & welcome to Birds in Backyards. There's lots to learn here & I'm confident you'll have lots to contribute. No doubt your attitude towards cats will be shared by many of BIBY members - but not all. Can you tell us where you live so that we have an idea of what bird species you're likely to see?

Being home to so many native critters that gum tree of yours is a very precious thing, as I'm sure you're aware. Having visits from Wedge-tailed Eagles & a Peregrine Falcon must be very exciting. I guess they're closely related to your interest in aviation!

I note that you can hand feed an Australian Magpie family. For more on the artificial feeding of birds you might be interested in typing <artificial feeding> in the search box near the top of this page.

Thanks for the warm welcome smiley

And as I just found out, cats are a very sensitive topic here. Im from Victoria. I actually have two gum trees, one has been invaded by mynas frown. I have some photos of the Wedge Tailed Eagles but none of the falcon, they are just to fast! I can get photos of fighter jets tearing along perfectly fine, but can get one of a falcon...frown. I will attach an image of one of my magpies. I only occasionally feed them, they in no way rely on me for food and if they did that would be a bad thing.
