Birds in Schools Project Officer - Position available Sydney

Birds in Schools (BIS) is a curriculum-linked environmental education program designed and delivered by BirdLife Australia’s Urban Bird Program that engages Stage 3 (Years 5 and 6) primary school students as citizen scientists. The program places students at the centre of their own learning and guides them through an investigation of the bird community and habitat of their school by collecting, analysing and interpreting their own data. The ultimate aim of this process is the development and implementation of an action plan – by the students themselves – which results in improving the biodiversity of their school grounds. This will improve the ecological footprint of the schools themselves and the surrounding communities, leading to a more sustainable local environment.
