On 26th May I noticed a dead Adelaide Rosella on the road. About 60 cm away a live Adelaide Rosella steadfastly stood apparently looking down at the dead bird. It didn't move as I drove past.
It's difficult to resist the temptation to ascribe grieving to the Rosella but from a human view point that's what it looked like.
I've seen Australian Magpies do this many times but this is a first for me in relation to Rosellas.
I've seen magpie-larks do this.
One female bird returned to it's road-kill mate for 3 consecutive days at least.
