Yes, the "Chestnut-breasted Mannikin" in your nice photo belongs to the finches. But it is always nice to name the bird by it's specific name. Just to give an example, there are 55 different kinds of Honeyeaters in Australia, to distinguish one from the other, it;s good to add their proper name. It is a challenge of becoming a good bird watcher, to be able to identify as many birds as possible.Not always easy, but also a lot of fun.

Good on you, BajanAlan. Accurate identification of birds can often be helpful in determining their distribution which can be an indicator of environmental health & other things.
