Australian Wood ducks - chenonetta jubata aka Maned Duck
Spotted these at Frankin, south of Hobart. Was able to get fairly close. Hoping to take some half decent photos over coming months. The weather hasn’t been playing fair lately. Waiting for clearer skies (we do however need the rain).

Love those little Wood Ducks. As to the rain, need it everywhere at present. Trips round Australia over last few years have shown us how widespread it is. The lack of flowers & insects with the lack of water is having a great effect on the birdlife we now see.
Lovely shot Dale..
Ron.
Thanks you all for looking and your encouragement. Hope the drought ends soon for our northern neighbours.

Yer. Beginning to se an increase in ducks around here, particularly wood duck. Think there being bushed down here by the drought. We are being over run by ducks.
