Araminta's White Ibises

I am posting more shots for Araminta from her visit to Coolart Wetlands. They are of White Ibises on the wetland

Thanks Owen for posting my photos again. You are such a good friend!! We had a very short day at the Wetlands. It rained, and was cold and grey. So we only sat in the hide at the lagoon, and went home again. The Coolart Wetlands are a "must go", thanks Cath and Shane for pointing them out to me.

In defence of the Ibis.
To no fault of their own, are there undervalued and underrated native birds, we don't pay attention to?
It's not the the fault of the Ibis, that they have become a "pest", it's people that have changed the birds natural habits!( like, leaving rubbish lying around, or feeding the birds at picknic spots etc) The Ibis is one of those sad stories. The story of the Australian White Ibis, tells how humans change nuture. The Ibis is one good example to let wild birds be wild, and go on with their lives naturally. Too late for them, but let the rest of wild birds just be birds!!!

One of my favourite sentences: people need nature--nature doesn't need people !

Yes you are right Marie-Louise.. I guess I tend to view them with a similar attitude to that of viewing seagulls at a popular beach.....with everyone throwing fatty hot chips at them!
I guess if their habitats weren't disappearing and our urban sprawl was not encroaching on the natural wetlands etc they may behave differently.
They are lovely natural shots and it is great that Owen is posting them for you (he he) at least I don't have to do it now :')

LOL Birdie I don't mind posting. Everyone deserves to have their photos shown and appreiated. Ibises are definitely underrated. People tend to pay most attention to the endangered birds and the common birds are overlooked. If the Galah was critically endangered you would never hear the end of people raving about it so I think lots of the common birds are very much underrated.

Cheers, Owen.

HI Marie-Lousie, it's a great place (thanks to David). Sorry didn't reply sooner, been out of action with a bung knee for the last 6 weeks, not sure how much longer. Glad you like Coolart, we went out for the first time in ages yesterday down to Philip Island, and Cath got some nice shots of Cape Barrene Geese and chicks.
