This was taken at Scott's Head about 6 weeks ago - nearly didn't see them but they stayed nice and still to have their photo taken. I think they just think they're cute.

The picture is too big - there are three birds but I couldn't get it smaller. Will have to have another try.

Try it again

Still not working! One more try and I'll give up.

Last try.

Woo-hoo!! Did it (not as dumb as I thought I was).

Well worth the wait, Meave and it's nice to have the larger photos sometimes - just to see the details a bit better. I love the whiskery feathers too! Thanks for sharing.

Very nice shot and good detail. They are strange but cute birds.
Cheers, Owen.
Well done Meave I love the baby Tawnies, haven't been able to get out and look for them this year though sadly. Good that you have mastered the sizing too :)

ah gorgeous, they ARE hard to spot aren't they? what with thier stillness and excellent branch imitating skilss. You did well!
Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best
They're right - they are cute! Good spotting
Good spotting! Another species that is very hard to see and quite elusive to photographers.
Great work. Are they different colours? The one on the right looks more brown than grey, or is it just the light?
They looked much the same when we saw them, so I think it's just the light - the one in the middle seems to be half way between the other two as far as colour goes.

Love the frogmouths great shot Meave.
Thanks - they stayed there for ages, Bob had time to come back to the caravan and fetch me! They weren't there next day though, perhaps all the people passing by upset them. (They were by a caravan park roadway near the path to the amenities and the surf club)
