Great photo Elle, especially the boobook.
The way that I find them is listen to the noisy minors attacking it! Trust me it works! I try to find him every morning as he is heading back to his daily roost in the trees next to the creek. The noisy minors go mad when they see him.
Thanks guys. Yes, I was so surprised to see the boobook, particularly during the day. I was out for a walk and at 10am, as I was going around a corner, it was on the road. I accidently startled it, then it flew up into a tree. On my way back I saw it chasing the Lewin's!
Lovely sharp photos of the honeyeaters and the boobook is a fantastic find. I saw my first and only one last year. It was also on the road, in heavy rain and flew up onto a fence
Nice shots Elle. I have never seen a Boobook before. Must have been good to see it in the open during the day.
Cheers, Owen.
Same question, please explain, how did you find the boobook during the day??? I hear lots of them at night, but haven't seen one.
