Here are a couple of pics of wild Hooded Parrots which are captures from my Video on Aussie Parrots. I had a post requesting images on Hoodies so here goes.
Check out these two young hoodeds that want to change this highway into one where you can pass by creating a broken white line in the bitumen... grin...

They sure are gorgeous and not many of them left in the wild!

Nice shots there Don of a truly beautiful parrot.
Did you know that they are very aggressive towards other species in captivity ?
I have often wondered if they are the same in the wild.
Hmm.. facinating Tassie... Its such a beautiful graceful bird I wouldnt have suspected it was all that aggressive by observing them in the wild. I spent 2 days with Hoodeds and about an hour or so each day. They actually seemed rather playful with each other but they did seem very confident feeding out in the open. Some Sulphur Crested Cockies got alarmed about something I never did see but for the most part the Hoodeds just carried on with feeding.
I wonder if their close relative the Golden-shouldered is aggressive in aviaries as well.
Cheers!

Thanks for posting these, Don. My wife and I first saw this species in Pine Creek, N.T. They are a beautiful bird ! A sighting that I will NEVER forget.
