Sometimes an ordinary birds can look quite beautiful, like the same pair of crested pigeons I see every day but have never photographed them before.

Thanks Holly, yes I have never bothered with them before but the sun kept catching their colours and I started to follow them. Didn't get any good shots showing colour but there will be plenty of ops for that . The same pair cross my path every day

Hi birdie, in France ,one does NOT look for BEAUTY ! One looks for CHARME ! ( even men don't look for beauty in girls, the charme is more important!)Now, couldn't Australian men learn from this???

Hi,Tassie, thought you'd make a comment on, what's more important, BEAUTY or CHARME? (What a boring day, going to watch the F1 race!)Went to Healsville, only saw some ducks, won't even bother looking at the photos, can only be boooring...

Ha ha ha.....Hmmmm I did think about it then I decided to steer clear of it. I am very careful what I say on here these days and in a lot of cases I just stick to saying "Thats a nice shot" :)

Thanks Tassie.... and how unlike you to be so cautious ;^) Smart to avoid Araminta's wind-ups though....especially when she is bored!
Absolutely boring here too with the weather turning foul and wet and windy.

I am a fast learner Birdie...lol. As for the weather, I am so over this rain we had 6 inches in four hours Friday morning and I have given up checking the gauge.....it has not stopped.

The common birds are always worth a photo - good to practise on. We get crested pigeons in our yard every day and they have lovely subtle colours

Yes that is so true Kim, I decided I needed the practice and they were all that was around anyway at the time.

Nice photos Birdie. have you ever managed to get a photo of a heron with a fish in its mouth? Last year I waited ages for this heron to catch a fish and while I was watching him, I was snapping away at other things.

I finally saw him stalk something and this time I just had this feeling that this would be the time he will catch a fish. And he sure did. When I pressed the shutter I realised my card was full. What a stupid mistake to make. I was so angry with myself. Didnt notice that I had filled it up while waiting for him to catch a fish. Still havent forgiven myself for it.

I was born to live and I live to die.

For some reason the update messages seem to be turned off... has anyone else found that or is it just me again..... last time it was .

Alex I did the same thing just today..... was frantically deleting and hoping the birds would stay put! I have been shooting in RAW and it really chews through the MBs when you are not used to it. And no...never managed a heron with a fish. :')
