OBG- Golden Whistler + more

So I was back at the Orange Botanic Gardens again yesterday, after 5 days of very miserable weather (it snowed on Wednesday night) and there were birds everywhere. Like last week I didn't know which way to look or point the camera.
Again these photos aren't great but they show the incredible variety in a small area. In one tree I saw 8 species within minutes. Enjoy!
Eastern Spinebill:

Yellow-faced Honeyeater:

Yellow Thornbill:

Red-rumped Parrot:

Peewee:

And my first male Golden Whistler sighting:

I also saw:
Striated Thornbill
Yellow-rumped Thornbill
Eastern Rosella
Crimson Rosella
Rainbow Lorikeet
Magpie
Black Duck
Australasian Grebe
Dusky Moorhen
Silvereye
Grey Fantail

I love my lunch breaks.

I love the Peewee having a bath. We call them Murray Magpies here. I have two sit in my yard almost every day and boy can they make a racket sometimes.
Great photos akasha

Great collection of birds - a very good lunch hour for a birder. I would love to see a male golden whistler. I also like the magpie-lark (our name) bathing

Top shots there Akasha and a good variety to.....My highlight of driving from Mackay to Bathurst once a week was going through Orange and Windsor, Beautiful places,I could live in either of them tomorrow, I really wish I could have had a spot in Orange where I could have pulled over and jumped out with the camera but to no avail.
Thx for posting, I love the birds from that area.

Thanks everyone. Here are some more pics I took on 17.05.11.
Crested Pigeon:

Australasian Grebe:

Galah:

Yellow-faced Honeyeater:

Red-browed Finch:

Dusky Moorhen (juvenille):

Little Pied Cormorant:

I actually got to see the Cormorant hunting which was a first for me. I find they are usually quite flighty and don't hang around long once they've know they've been seen.
Enjoy!!!
