Today I went to Morpeth and tried to get photos of some of the small birds that live there - they are very fast and rarely sit still. I had fun using burst mode for the first time.
Male superb fairy wren
Yellow thornbill (best photo, unfortunately)

Very nice, Birdgirl. My favourite bird is (and always will be) the Superb Fairy-wren. All these little guys seem to be very sharp.

Ah! ... the Superb Fairy Wren is can be a difficult to shoot due to the extreme contrast between its irridescent blue cap and it's intense black face mask but you have captured them well. I am looking forward to seeing them in my viewfinder again come spring, as last year I was never able to capture a really satisfying shot of one. With my new *140-600mm lens I'm hoping to do better come spring.

Nice ones Birdgirl, I like the Fantail.
Hi birdgirl
Nice photos - what is burst mode? Sounds dangerous.

Burst mode is travelling on a third world tourist bus without a loo. ;)

it's really addictive to shoot small birds and very challenging too, top shots birdgirl....
Thanks everyone
Seriously now ... burst mode is when the camera can fire off 3 shots (or more) in quick succession when you hold the shutter down
