The blues and greens are spectacular. I also thought the eastern rosella was the only white-cheeked rosella with a red head. The eastern rosella is found in Tas
raysimula, Birdgirl2009, Tassie, Ed, smeedingo2, Raoul Thank you all for your comments. It seems I have misnamed the bird - I confess, I am terrible at remembering names ... I can't remember half my friends' names either, most of the time! Due to an image posting glitch, the picture in my opening thread was deleted so I have reposted it above.
Incredible shot Tark. Amazing colours aren't they? we seem to only see the Pale Headed Rosellas around my area and they are beautiful but not nearly as vivid as this.
Cheers

Thanks birdie ... yeah, nature was rather generous in colouring this bird - I often wonder parrots evolved such a vivid coat; certainly no attempt at camouflage. Maybe just born exhibitionists!
What a spectacular bird! I have never seen such a thing. I probably would have taken it for an Eastern Rosella.

Very nice shot. I thought it was an Eastern,I have never heard of a Tasmanian Scarlet.
It is a Eastern Rosella of the race Diemenensis. A 'rose' by any other name....Great shot.
