WBSE and brown falcon

Blue sky this morning so off I went with my camera to my favourite haunts

Some BOP were flying over when I first arrived but they disappeared

I noticed that several were roosting on a far-away fence

The brown falcon let me park underneath it. Wonderful to see it so close, even though the light wasn't quite right for a photo

When it flew, I saw the beautiful top side ...

and underside

and the lovely face

Birdgirl, I must be living in the wrong place !?! I haven't seen that many BOPs in one spot. You must be living in a "dream world" How beautiful must it be! Gorgeous birds, great camera, top lens......and on and on it goes!

Great stuff again birdgirl. That wetland looks very productive for BoP's. would be nice to see so many around whenever you go.

Cheers, Owen.

Well the pickings must be good in those paddocks or there wouldn't be so many BOPs in the same place! Well done...nice markings on the Brown Falcon aren't they?

Lovely shots Birdgirl! I have never seen a photo like yours of the top side of the Brown Falcon - just stunning! And the photo of its face turned towards you is beautiful.

Thanks everyone.
Araminta - 95% of the improvement is in what I am finding, not in the quality of the photos. I really haven't learnt to use the camera very well yet - just the basic functions. I could have had similar ones with my old camera - most just as good and with more magnification.
Here are some more with it looking at me and flying - when I am nice and close to get a good perching photo I am too close when it flies

nice shots to show for suh a wonderful bird. The good thing about them is they often hunt close to the ground so you can see them well.

Cheers, Owen.

Another lovely set. I particularly like no.4 showing the pattern detail of the top side.
