Yes it is an obsession. I went back today to see if I could get another courtship flight. They flew together quite a way away and low. When I got the photos I could see prey in the talons of the lower one - I read that they drop it and catch it during courtship flights but am not sure if they pass it from one to the other. THey have full adult colours by 4-5 years, so by the look of this pair, they start breeding before then
This is how far away I was, and I had a 400 mm lens. Folowing have been cropped

White-bellied sea eagles courtship with prey
Nice shots again. Do you text them to let them know you are on your way to take their photo?
Very lucky to have them so reliable.
It seems like that but it is total luck how close they come. The best chance I had, I had a flat battery adn 3 flew over my car
Here are soem more. This pari flew really close together and clos eto the ground
Sorry about dyslexic typing - I reverse letters all the time. Sometimes I think 1 finger would be better.
Does anyone know how to put flickr in English? My account seems to be in Spanish. I am learning some new words - carica means upload
nice array of shots birdgir. very interesting to see eagles behaving like this. they sure live dangerously flying so close to the ground.
Cheers, Owen.
