another Bright (and Freezing) weekend

Hi all, just sharing my bird photos from the weekend in Bright, where there was snow on the mountains, and frozen pipes on our campsite! Note to self:- don't stay in a tent in winter!
I had about a two second window of opportunity with this Nankeen Kestrel :)

I think this is an eastern Shrike-Tit

male superb fairy wren
and female
Can't find this pair in my book

Galah
and finally red browed finches

Great shots Heva1.
I think those ducks were domestic escapees or introduced.

Some beautiful birds, love the in-flight photo of the kestrel and the redbrowed finches, they are beautiful birds. By the way your superb fairy wrens are both males, the 2nd one is a male that has not got its breeding plumage :D

hey Amateur, thanks for the info...I didn't know that...you learn something new every day huh?!

Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best

Great photos - love the fairy wrens. You did really well catching them, they are too fast for me!! I believe the ducks are Muscovy ducks, a domestic species.

Nice set Hev, good to see you don't let the cold keep you in.

A Photo is only as good as the eyes that look at it.

Thanks Hev - yep, it's a night heron - I took that shot at Melbourne zoo just recently. Beautiful bird. I love the muscovy ducks too - they are so ugly they are cute!

Hev.... love the new avatar... must look for a new ,one too!
But my catbirds started calling again yesterday doing a duet with the whipbirds so I feel disloyal!!!

You did really well to get the shrike-tit, they move fast high in the canopy. I see them occasionally but very difficult to photograph.

Hi Greg, the credit goes to my non-birding friend who said 'there's a yellow bird there' sure enough it was high up in the canopy and moving fast in the foliage. I thought it was a golden whistler at first but then saw what it was doing (lifting off the bark and eating insects) and spotted the crest like a whipbirds.
I had the birdspotter ailment of crook neck after that long observation I can tell you!
