Can i just say - WOW!
Fantabulous photos last week everyone, everyone excelled! A big congrats to Shoop too who won a trip to South America and got to see one of my top places to visit before I die - the Galapagos! We got to see some wonderful birds (and other creatures) too.
This week lets see some rosella photos. They are such sweet little parrots. Much more subtle in personality than most of the other parrots...

I just love rosellas they are so colourful and cheeky. I was hard to select some as I have heaps of photos of them, here is a few. The first one was taken at sunset, so the colours are exta vivid.

Where I live, the rosellas that I see everyday are Pale-headed rosellas. I love them
They are rather shy, but I love to watch them play together

Thanks Holly , you most certainly should go to Galapagos it was the biggest favourite of our whole trip, got to meet some beautiful people there also. ( Machu Picchu was awesome too but so many tourist made it a little uncomfortable). Anyway these are the only photos I have that are worth sharing ,taken at my brother-in-law's property in Denmark W.A. of Western Rosellas. They are very shy parrots and very hard to get close to.

I love the Pale-headed Rosellas, they look shy and fragile.
Here is one more young Crimson. I have some Eastern Rosellas in my garden, but can't get close enough, as soon as I open the door, they fly off

The Pale-headed rosella is so beautiful, and has such a great personality that I can't help loving them
I also love those Pale-headed Rosellas. Down here where I live (Vic), the Crimson and Eastern blend perfectly into the coulours of the shrubs they feed on. Sometimes they are hard to find. So do the blue and yellow Pale-headed (with the beautiful blue eyes) blend into any particular plant they feed on?

Yes they do! The pattern on their backs help them to camouflage in the grass, when they are eating the seeds. I find it really interesting how well they can hide in a tree. The blues, greens, yellows, and blacks make them hard to see if they are in a tree with leaves on it. Quite often it's only the flash of red that catches my eye
The ones around my place have been breeding, so they have been really noisy!

I have never seen a really young Pale-headed rosella. Mostly, the young are patchy versions of the adults. At least the ones that I have seen
