Bird photowalk meetup tomorrow

Forgot to mention here, not sure if Graham has already, but a small number of us are going to Serendip Sanctuary tomorrow for a bird watch meetup, cameras in hand!

See http://www.meetup.com/Melbourne-Bird-Photographers/ for details.  We have just over 21 people at the meetup group now with plans of organising regular get togethers.  There are currently 7 booked for tomorrow's event.

Have fun yes We used to go to Serendip, too many people on weekends for my liking. In one of the two enclosures you will find a Frogmouth sitting on one of the trees, and also some Buff-banded Rails on the ground. Should be some good oportunities to take close ups of birds that can't run or fly awaywink

If you walk past the lake though, you might see a few BOP in the air. Good luck! Watch out for the Emus, they'll eat your lunchdevil

We had the most wonderful day there. The weather turned out just right. There were a few other visitors there but mostly concentrated at the front of the sanctuary so we pretty much had the rest of it to ourselves, with occasional others passing us by.  Saw many birds I'd not seen close up before.  Beautiful scenery and there were 6 of us who totally enjoyed our time there. Didn't really want to leave but it was after 3pm before we knew it!

Sounds like a wonderful day Kathie!

If ever you want to advertise any walks to BIBY participants please let me know (or put it on here yourself too) - I can put it in the newsletter and on the event section of the website.

Cheers

Holly

Thanks Holly. Graham has another one organised for next Sunday at 11am.

La Trobe Wildlife Sanctuary is positive proof of what can be achieved with a long-term pro-active habitat restoration project. The 30ha site was previously within the Mont Park and Larundel Psychiatric Hospitals precinct and has been transformed from farmland, sporting fields and other uses since 1967.

People can RSVP at http://www.meetup.com/Melbourne-Bird-Photographers/events/135212112/

Graham and I are planning to have regular events, at least monthly, but maybe more often, depending on where it is and how many are interested.
