i know this isn't a great picture but does anyone recognise these birds? They make a low, croaking sort of call and I live in South West Rocks, NSW. I've never seen any like them here. They were sitting on our TV aerial and when he wattle birds went to chase them away, they didn't leave. They were larger than the wattle birds.
Taking another look at the picture, they might be Butcher birds - no pretty song though. Okay, I checked that. Not Butcher birds. The beak is the wrong colour.
Looks like Dollarbirds to me.

I saw my first dollarbird of the season this morning. I think they are returning from their winter in PNG.
