By the time i got to his tree he had already eaten some of the mouse but here is the sequence of shots of what was left.

Aiming for DSLR-quality shots with a bridge camera
Wow, what a series of photos! The shot at the end is my favourite with the BSK just finishing off his dinner.

Yeah, "wow" seems to be the word for it! Can't pick a favourite - they're all great in a photo and a documentary sense.
Had a chuckle scrolling up the page and "watching" them in reverse. Can't help myself sometimes.

I like the second last one, it looks like pasta he's eating. Great job!
Tegan - Melbourne Vic.
Awesome set of shots, Shorty!
They don't muck around do they.
Great series of shots.
Great set of shots. I wonder if they regurgitate the bones of the mice like some birds of prey do. What was the time taken from arriving to seeing the tail disappear?
Samford Valley Qld.
Thanks everyone.
Reflex..... Yes they do regurgitate, i have no pics but i have seen pics of them doing it.
With this set from first pic to last pic, 7 seconds.

7 secs..That's a recipe for indigestion!

Brilliant photos rawshorty. Thanks for sharing.
Before seeing this i thought they would eat it by tearing off little bits - never imagined most of it was gulped down in one go.
Amazing set of photos.
Thanks Amson and WD, sometimes they swallow it whole, head and all.

They're awesome! The photos are so clear. I didn't realise they swalloed them whole either. I wonder how long it takes for them to digest the juicy bits and then regurgitate the bones. If they have meals half way in between do they regurgitate the lot or just the old bones?
Tearing open the rodent before swallowing it whole might aid digestion.
Thanks Devster, Not sure how long it takes but they sometimes eat a few mice in a short session.
Woko, it may do but they do sometimes swallow them hole and other times just pick on their food.
